Transfer Registration of Vehicles Owned by Overseas Koreans and Foreign Nationals
- This refers to the registration process required to transfer (assign) ownership of a registered vehicle. When ownership changes (due to sale, donation, inheritance, merger, auction, or other reasons), the transferee must apply for transfer registration within the legally prescribed period.
- Required Documents
- Applicant : Applicant’s ID, Certificate of Residence or Certificate of Alien Registration
- Representative : Representative’s ID, copy of the delegator’s ID, power of attorney (with seal), Certificate of Residence or Certificate of Alien Registration
- Precautions When Transferring Vehicle Registration※ If a real estate transaction report has been filed, it is considered as having filed a land acquisition report for foreigners.
- When transferring registration, check for any liens or seizures listed in the vehicle registration record. For vehicles with administrative fines related to vehicle violations (such as violations of the Automobile Management Act, failure to maintain mandatory insurance, inspection delays, parking violations, police speed limit violations, etc.) registered as seizures after July 6, 2011, the seizure must be lifted before transfer registration can proceed.
